It works.

Strengths:1 amp draw on fully charged li-ion cell (4.2v), 120ma draw on low mode. Light starts flashing at about 2.6V. Very nice feature for those of us with unprotected Li-ion cells.
Weaknesses:LED can get quite hot when running at 1amp, firmly gripping the head of your light will aid in the cooling of the flashlight.
I had to dremel the edges of the board to make it fit the 17mm space perfectly (SKU S006513) . The board did not come with the wires attached, I had to solder them. No big problems really.
Summary:I removed the stock 5 mode board from one Kai SKU S006513 drop-in and replaced it with this board. The performance is great. I got about 1.5hrs of full brightness the 1/2hr diminishing light from an old laptop 18650 cell that I believe is somewhere in the 1500mah to 2000mah range.
The performance/price of this board is great. I highly recommend this board.

Strengths:Great 2 mode controller , I used it to repair a flashlight [ SAIK SA-8 ] that was 3 mode , HI - Lo - Strobe , with this controller no strobe .
Weaknesses:None that Im aware of .
Summary:I had to replace a 20mm circuit board with a 17mm one , + there was nothing to solder the board to , so I had to make some legs that extended out from the controller board to fit into the 20mm heatsink , I then used 5 minute epoxy to hold it in place . Hopefully it will last . I dont see a problem with the controller board , just my jerry rigging .
If I didnt have a bunch of other controllers on the way , I would buy another .

Pretty good, but...
|
Strengths:Good high and low levels.
No non-sense SOS and Strobe to skip through.
Weaknesses:Bad mode memory implementation, resulting the "next mode" problem. If you turn on the light, and then turn it off within a few seconds (you know, sometimes you just want to check out something quickly), then the next time you turn on the light, it will turn on in the next mode.
Summary:I was quite annoyed by the "next mode" issue in my drop in, so I bought this driver. I guess this driver didn't quite do that. Luckily, there's only 2 modes, so I only have to tap the switch one more time if it turn on in the wrong mode.
