Doesn't output Over 3A
|
Strengths:Small, no buzzing sounds, efficient
Weaknesses:Doesn't output anywhere close to 3A. Mine does 1.35A max on a freshly charged 3x18650 Pack in parallel.
Summary:It does run efficiently at that output though. 5 modes are High, med, low, SOS, strobe. Cycle through with quick power on/off

Improved board meets specs
|
Strengths:New version I've just received is a blue 17mm PCB which works as advertised. Has memory and a single MC-E wired in parallel pulls 2.35A off a freshly charged IMR 16340 LiMn battery.
Weaknesses:When battery is fully charged, this drver emits a slight buzzing sound, even on high. It would be nice if it had a low voltage cut-off to protect from draining battery below 2.5v.
Summary:Please don't change this board again, it's almost perfect now.

Great
|
Strengths:A great driver , used this with a Cree P4 and it pushes 700 to 800mA . Seriously good for $4USD
Weaknesses:Wish there was one that went to 8.4volt input .
Summary:Great for mods and upgrades , used it on my old luxeon powered Romisen . Now P4 5 mode . Just ordered one more .

perfect for dual cree R2
|
Strengths:very good driver , no sounds , no hot chips in use , and perfect if you use 2 CREE R2 in parallel , nice for dual headlamps.
Weaknesses:with two sanyo li-ion 18650 2500mah in parralel, current draw output on high is 1.15A , 0.56A medium , 0.11A low.
Summary:i use it for caving with this dual combination and the throw is about 350 lumens on high.
it work great with battery & charger SANYO KBC-L2 /5000 mah with modifieded output ports (direct/18650..not usb use !)

SSC P7 Li-ion 5-mode driver
|
Strengths:Nice driver when it works!
Weaknesses:Bought two, only one worked.
Summary:Here we go again with the e-mails to get a replacement.

Doesn't meet specification
|
Strengths:None, I need it to do what it says, the old version worked very well why doesn't this version?
Weaknesses:The old version would fully drive a P7 on three NIMH batteries, this version needs to be driven with four NIMH batteries and the maximum output is still only 2350mA.
Summary:Why did they change from the original driver it worked very well? All the figures shown relate to the old driver.

works but weak
|
Strengths:works well.
Weaknesses:only draws 1.3A no were near the 2.8A a P7 needs for 100% brightness.
Summary:The only 18650 5 mode driver I have found that can be used to replace MTE 5 mode drivers that always break. Pitty it cannot drive a p7 fully.

Not so intense
|
Strengths:It works
Weaknesses:On 3 D, 4.5 V it draws only 1 A on high, with a P7. I could try to provide it 5 V but I guess it will burn out
Summary:It works but not as expected

Great driver
|
Strengths:Fantastic single cell driver for 18650 or cr123A .
Weaknesses:4.5v max / Strobe / SOS
Summary:Great driver for XR-E / Xp-E / XP-G / SSC P4 / SSC P7 / MC-E
If you like 1x18650 this is the driver to use .
