This Is It!
|
Strengths:Has 3 modes, all programmable to any brightness, SOSO, any strobe frequency, or some blinking modes. If you don't like strobes or blinking you don't have to have them. The lowest possible low is less than 10 lumens. Works fine with AA or 14500 lithium-ion batteries (brighter with li-ion). Has good last mode memory which sets after the light is off for 5 seconds or more (shorter than that and it will switch to the next mode). Features optional lithium-ion low voltage protection. Build quality is very good though threads and o-rings can use some lubrication. I didn't see any defects or dirt on this light. The clip looks kind of weak but is fairly sturdy and keeps the light from rolling.
Weaknesses:Difficult to program. It is hard to get into programming mode consistently. Also programming brightnesses is hard to do due to fast ramping sequence. It will take a lot of practice to get good at programming the modes. The tail clicky seems kind of sticky, not crisp. The finish is not a dark army green, but more of a light olive color (it looks fine, this isn't really a weakness). The lumens are overrated: On a li-ion battery this light is not any brighter than my 180-lumen Fenix L2D and on AA NiMH, it is not any brighter than my 120-lumen Fenix L1D. In some ways this is good since some K-106 models badly overdrove the LED (but were a lot brighter!).
Summary:This is well-made light with the great feature of being programmable.
