Hello! I present to you a detailed overview of the high-capacity Sanyo / Panasonic NCR18650GA 3500mah. Overview of the data banks are still not there, because it is a novelty this year, and in retail they appeared relatively recently. Since I do not know how to call them properly, then to avoid confusion in the future will be referred to Sanyo. Maybe someone does not know, but Sanyo and Panasonic are now a single company (Panasonic Corporation bought the company Sanyo in 2009, merged in 2012). In short, a good battery.

S024231 - NCR18650GA 3.6V 3500mAh Rechargeable Li-ion 18650 Battery without PCB - 1 pc

S024234 - NCR18650GA 3.6V 3500mAh Rechargeable Li-ion 18650 Battery without PCB - 2 pcs

S024244 - NCR18650GA 3.6V 3500mAh Rechargeable Li-ion 18650 Battery with PCB - 1 pc

S024245 - NCR18650GA 3.6V 3500mAh Rechargeable Li-ion 18650 Battery with PCB - 2 pcs

In fact, the two identical battery Panasonic NCR18650GA 3500mah, only one protected, the other without payment protection. Details of the protected / unprotected banks I described in the article about castration, in the future I will often refer to this short article. These batteries srednetokovye have a low internal resistance and no harm can give up to 10A. The capacity of a little below the maximum (3600mah have NCR18650G), but one can easily buy at retail

Performance characteristics:

- the manufacturer

- Panasonic (Sanyo bought the company in 2009, merged in 2012)

- the form factor

- 18650 (18,5mm * 65,3mm )

- rated capacity

- 3450mah (minimum 3350mah)

- internal resistance - less 38mOm

- rated voltage - 3,6V

- maximum discharge current

- 10A (short-term, up to 5 seconds - 20A)

- full charge - 4,2V

- full charge - 2 , 5V

- recommended charging current - 1.5A

- estimated charging time - 4.5 hours

- charging method - CV / CC

- weight - 48 grams.

Official Specifications:

Size standard, secure the battery slightly longer than the usual secure (69mm):

Internal resistance measured Opus (just for fun, readings lie):

Battery capacity (Opus discharges to 2,9V):

A small test (to assess the voltage curve), high current load will be a little later:

As you can see, the discharge current of 1A, the capacity of both cans around 3360mah.

Date of manufacture:

I already wrote about deciphering some folk cans in his article about the castration batteries are standard marking Panos. There is also the official datasheet Panasonic battery for this model, all the same:

Our bank has the following notation:

NCR18650GA 5317

- NCR18650GA - model name

- first digit - this year: 1 - 2011 2 - 2012 3 - 2013 4 - 2014 5 - 2015, etc.

- the next digit - the month of manufacture: 1 - January 2 - February 9 - September ...... X - October, Y - November, Z - December

- the third and the fourth number is the number of months: 05, 14, 29.

Total: production date of unprotected Sanyo NCR18650GA 5317 - 17 March 2015, you see, is quite fresh.

We protected the banks do not have any markings.

Since banks are relatively fresh in the popular comparison, comparator I have not found. But on the Internet there is a small test:

As you can see, in the discharge current to 0,7A 2,5V turned 3354mah (12,16Wh).

When the discharge current of 10A to happen 2,5V 3381mah (11,18Wh).

Castration protected banks (removal protection board):

Since I do not need a bank is protected, remove the protection board. Immediately warn - remove the protection on these banks is much more difficult and dangerous to carry out their own risk, it is more likely to short-circuit the bank!

First, as usual, to rip off Shrink:

As you can see, by shrinking the "bare" of the bank and minus (housing) comes close to the positive terminal (very high probability of short-circuit the bank):

The board is to protect the minus contact:

In no case do not try to charge any otkovyrivat protection, convex or "tipped" to positive without cutting the conductor, otherwise it by selling the insulating yellow sticker and short bank. Cut the wire:

After the break you can otkovyrnut charge protection:

Now the most difficult. As you can see, "soldering" is welded to positive in two places by spot welding and negative body comes close to the positive contact. Then either sticking a white ring or two layers of electrical tape, to prevent accidental short circuits. Better insulation tape, since then the ring will be used, the appearance may be spoiled:

Pliers / pliers to squeeze a little "tipped" in the slot between the "soldering" and the plus-contact push through a thin screwdriver and tear off. The result is something like this:

Glued plastic ring and cover shrinking (how to do it, I described in the article about castration). You can buy it here. I will try to look for appropriate labeling in the future will add a link.

It was such a fee protection:

The closest competitors:

- Lg INR18650-MJ1 3500mAh

- 3500mAh Samsung INR18650-35E

Unfortunately, compared with the data banks is not possible for me, because I do not have these, so which one is better / worse I can not say, but in the future I will try to compare and buy.

+ Good capacity (remember, is the primacy of holding 3600mah NCR18650G)

+ high energy density with a standard threshold in charge 4,2V

+ modernized type of chemistry (such as would be the same as that of NCR18650PF 2900mah - LiNiMnCoO2, but with some modifications)

+ can give to load up to 10A

+ fresh batteries

+ does not fakes

+ amplified positive contact (finally did have eliminated school folk Sanyo 2600mah)

- discharge curve (it became much better, but not ideal)

- a low threshold for discharge to 2,5V (the majority of consumers are switched off at 3V, remain unclaimed for about 10% of capacity, somewhere around 200-250mah)

- not frost

- a bit too big price (for taking 2-4 pieces is normal)

Conclusion: excellent battery, according to some information outperform its nearest competitors in the face of Lg INR18650-MJ1 3500mAh. Do the same deficiencies as that of the entire line of NCR (low threshold for discharge and drawdown under load), but in this model are improved, at least it looks better than the vaunted NCR18650B 3400mah. As a whole was a good product as soon as their price will fall, can easily become popular ...
